SUMMARY:Automation… Safety Assumed… Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Jason Low\, Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist \nThis webinar is for any small-medium size company that is considering automation for the first time\, or is looking at I4.0 technologies and is uncertain of the safety implications of such a journey. \nThe mission of autonomous systems is task execution. Interactions by non-system agents (humans) are not to occur. Light curtains\, pressure mats and physical barriers have long been the elements which provide signaling and subsequent safety for workers. Join us as we review technologies that are switching out the old guard and the evolution of the standards that have protected humans from machines for decades. We will see that with new autonomy (cobots\, AMRs\, AGVs\, ALTs\, etc.)\, new safety paradigms emerge\, and new standards must be developed. We will investigate old and new standards alike and offer insights on why and how they may impact your operations and decision-making. \nRegister for the webinar » \nJason Low is a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist at NC State University Industry Extension Services\, where he assists clients with automation strategies and their understanding how Industry 4.0 technologies can be leveraged within their own operations. Jason comes to IES with 25 years of teaching and automation experience at NCSU\, including a tenure in the computer industry where he served as a manufacturing engineer. In his IES role\, Jason works with a broad array of North Carolina companies and a network of people and resources that contribute to one of the most important sectors of North Carolina’s economy\, manufacturing. Jason is excited to bring his system mindset and knowledge of automation and processes to help solve the challenges faced by many of North Carolina’s small and medium-sized manufacturers. \nJason holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BSEET) from the University of Maine and a Master of Industrial Engineering (MIE) from\nNC State University.

SUMMARY:Supplier Scouting Opportunities Webinar
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION LINK:\nhttps://ncsu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ckSVdtuKQj2sDTa4KAtI2g\n\n\nPresented by: Keanne Hoeg\, Director\, Data Management Systems\, Marketing and Reporting\, NC State University Industry Extension Services \nThis webinar is targeted for Procurement professionals\, plant managers and anyone responsible for business development and order/contract fulfillment. \n\n\n\nAre you a manufacturer struggling to source key parts or components to meet your production needs? Do you have excess manufacturing capacity in your facility that you’d like to use? \nWhen we talk about economic repercussions from the pandemic\, supply chain challenges are one of the first challenges mentioned. In fact\, one of the lasting legacies of the pandemic might be that everyone now understands what a supply chain is and what happens when it breaks. Economists and manufacturing experts\, unfortunately\, predict that supply chain disruption will be with us well into 2023. The good news is that there are programs in place to help with supply chain challenges. \nJoin NC State University Industry Extension Services (IES) on January 18\, 2023 for a webinar that will explore and demonstrate programs and tools provided by the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)\, the North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP) and NC State University Industry Extension Services (IES)to help manufacturers source the parts or components they need domestically. The program\, Supplier Scouting\, is a national program that uses a network approach to provide as much exposure as possible to source the item domestically. As well\, the webinar will demonstrate the Manufactured in North Carolina online supply chain database\, a searchable tool that allows you to search North Carolina manufacturers on criteria such as capabilities\, materials and production volume. \n  \nKeAnne Hoeg is the director of data management systems\, marketing and reporting for IES. She describes her job as “playing with data.” Her data and reporting group is responsible for managing required reporting to stakeholders\, several internal applications\, including the Salesforce CRM system and the Manufactured in North Carolina supply chain website\, reporting development\, and data analysis and visualization. KeAnne also oversees marketing for the organization\, with her marketing team responsible for multiple websites\, branding\, market research\, collateral development\, writing\, podcasting\, social media and video production. Finally\, KeAnne also helps clients to fulfill supplier opportunities or locate potential suppliers through research and industry databases. Prior to moving into this position at IES\, she worked in IT and marketing as a web developer and social media manager. KeAnne has a B.A. in English from Meredith College and an MLS in library science from UNC-Chapel Hill.
