SUMMARY:FEDTEX: Federal and Defense Textile and Tactical Equipment Summit
DESCRIPTION:The Federal and Defense Textile and Tactical Equipment (FEDTEX) Summit hosted by the Office of US Senator Thom Tillis\, Office of Senator Ted Budd\, the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) and the North Carolina Defense Technology Transition Office (DEFTECH) connects the US Department of Defense (DoD) and federal agency clothing and individual equipment buyers with US textile manufacturers\, textile supply chain suppliers\, cut and sew contractors\, research and development (R&D) facilities\, testing labs and academic resources.\n  \n\nREGISTER TO ATTEND\n\n  \nWho Should Attend\nAll prime textile manufacturers and textile supply chain manufacturers currently producing clothing\, footwear\, parachutes and textile-based tactical equipment for DoD\, and producers of medical\, PPE and related soldier systems. Any textile manufacturers that have interest in learning\, understanding or possibly entering the DoD/federal marketplace should attend this Summit. DESCRIPTION:View Agenda\nThe second annual Defense Technology Summit (DTS) is hosted by the Office of US Senator Thom Tillis\, Office of US Senator Ted Budd\, Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC)\, the North Carolina Military Business Center and the North Carolina Defense Technology Transition Office. \nThe summit is held in conjunction with the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Warfighter Summit and Exposition on July 26-27\, 2023\, in Fayetteville\, North Carolina. The event will highlight the advanced technology needs of major military commands in North Carolina and of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the correlating capabilities of the innovation ecosystem in North Carolina and the southeast. \nThe Defense Technology Summit will establish a dialogue and partnerships between industry\, academia and government to address the future technology needs of America’s warfighters. Winters\, Director\, Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) \nLaurra is in Natick\, Massachusetts\, and executes the NCTRF mission alongside a team of 30 highly skilled professionals located in both Natick and Philadelphia. She has over 22 years of professional experience working within the textile field and over 20 years as a federal civilian employee. \nPrior to joining NCTRF\, Laurra worked within many different business units on the installation of U.S. Army’s Natick Soldier Systems Center in Natick\, MA. She played key roles in textiles and materials as a program manager\, supervisor\, textile subject matter expert and senior leader liaison for multiple fully customer-funded teams. She was instrumental in the successful execution to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System for the Textile Material Evaluation Team and co-inventor on a patent for the “Insulate Bag” date February 2016\, Patent #9265318. \nIn 2010\, she volunteered to travel to Kabul\, Afghanistan twice to complete an assessment of the local Afghan manufacturing base and on the 2nd visit provide technical assistance in review of future procurements efforts supporting the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A). She is co-author of the “Afghanistan Sewn Products Assessment and Recommendations Report”\, by: Joseph W. Kernodle\, Richard R. Yardley\, Joseph P. Connors\, and Laurra C. Winters. In 2004\, Laurra successfully completed Basic Airborne Course at Ft. Benning\, GA as a Department of the Army Civilian. \nA native of Massachusetts\, Laurra graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science Degree Major in Textile Science and Minor in Business Administration.
