SUMMARY:An Introduction to Micro-credentials via the Cyber4RAM Digital Badge
DESCRIPTION:Who Should Attend\nThose interested in enhancing their experience and knowledge with micro-credentials.\n  \nREGISTER TO ATTEND\n\n \nThere are many types of non-degree credentials that today’s learners can earn. Understanding the value of various credentials can help manufacturers decide who to hire and what training to seek for current employees.  \n \nThis presentation will examine\, at a high level\, a type of credential known as a micro-credential\, which takes less time to earn than a certificate or degree. It will also provide details about a free digital badge called Cyber4RAM\, which builds cyber awareness among robotics\, automation and mechatronics (RAM) manufacturing technicians. \n  \nKey Takeaways:\n\nAttendees will learn about micro-credentials and how they are perceived in manufacturing.\nAttendees will see a demonstration of the Cyber4RAM badge\, which can be earned by their technicians and helps to raise awareness of how to protect against cyber threats.\n\n  \nPresenter\nEvelyn Brown\nDirector of Extension Research and Development\, NC State University Industry Extension Services\nEmail: evelyn_brown@ncsu.edu | Phone: 252.414.1555\n \nEvelyn leads research and development efforts and works to build relationships with NC State faculty whose research interests can be applied to solve problems for North Carolina manufacturers. Evelyn is also part of the evaluation services team at IES that provides formative and summative assessments for grant-funded projects at two-year and four-year institutions. \n \nEvelyn comes toIndustry Extension Services after 18 years as a Virginia Tech and East Carolina University faculty member. DESCRIPTION:This is a part of the Women In Manufacturing Virtual Learning Webinar Series\n \nVirtual Learning Series webinars are free for WiM members and $35 for non-members.\n  \n\nREGISTER TO ATTEND \n\n \n \nPresenter\nDr. Evelyn Brown\, Director\, Extension Research and Evaluation\, NC State University Industry Extension Services \n\n  \nWebinar Overview\nTo protect our companies against potential cyberattacks\, proper cyber awareness among front-line workers in automation must be established. In this webinar\, we will dive into ways to help lessen those cyber vulnerabilities in a manufacturing facility.\n \nMany of today’s manufacturing facilities include cyber-physical systems that enable machines to communicate with each other and be accessed remotely. While use of new technologies has enabled efficiencies in advanced manufacturing\, it has also increased the risk of cybersecurity threats. This presentation will discuss how building cyber awareness among automation technicians and other front-line workers can help lessen the cyber vulnerabilities at a manufacturing facility. The presentation will also introduce the Cyber4RAM digital badge\, a micro-credential which provides learning modules on 11 cyber competencies related to advanced manufacturing. \n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for accessing this webinar via Zoom. \n\n \nEvelyn Brown is Director\, Extension Research and Development for Industry Extension Services (IES)\, the industrial extension services arm of the NC State University College of Engineering. She leads research and development efforts and works to build relationships with NC State faculty whose research interests can be applied to solve problems for North Carolina manufacturers. Evelyn is also part of the evaluation services team at IES that provides formative and summative assessment for grant-funded projects at two-year and four-year institutions. Evelyn comes to IES after 18 years as a faculty member at Virginia Tech and East Carolina University. Prior to that\, she worked in manufacturing at Nortel Networks\, spending time as an Operations Research Analyst and as a Project Manager. She has a BS in mathematics\, an MS in operations research and a PhD in systems engineering.\n  \n\nREGISTER TO ATTEND

SUMMARY:Government Relations Forum
DESCRIPTION:The Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) invites you to join us virtually for the Government Relations Forum Monday\, November 13 at 9 a.m. with the honorable Ted Budd\, United States Senate\n  \nREGISTER TO ATTEND\n \nU.S. Senator Ted Budd grew up on a cattle and commercial chicken farm in rural Davie County\, North Carolina. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs\, Senator Budd learned the importance of faith\, hard work\, and common-sense decision-making at an early age.\n \nWhile traveling on a Christian mission trip in the former Soviet Union in 1991\, Senator Budd met a fellow student\, Amy Kate\, and they soon began dating and eventually were married in 1994. Senator Budd and Amy Kate have three children and still live in Davie County.\n \nSenator Budd is a graduate of Appalachian State University\, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1994. He and Amy Kate both attended and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary\, where Senator Budd earned a Masters of Theology and Educational Leadership in 1998. Senator Budd also holds a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University\, which he earned in 2007.\n \nSenator Budd is a proud father of a Stars and Stripes recipient and an Eagle Scout\, and he also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He and Amy Kate homeschooled their three children\, and Senator Budd served as a board member of North Carolinians for Home Education.\n \nIn 2010\, Senator Budd was approached by a friend regarding the purchase of a bankrupt gun range in Rural Hall\, North Carolina for a local police department to conduct firearms training\, and he did so. Later\, the range was opened to the public. The store’s motto is: “Helping our community responsibly enjoy firearms.”\n \nWhen an opportunity presented itself after redistricting opened up North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District in 2016\, Senator Budd decided to run for the seat having never sought public office before. The campaign focused on bringing a businessman’s outlook to our nation’s capital. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on November 8\, 2016.\n \nSenator Budd served three terms in the U.S. House. During his tenure\, Senator Budd was a strong supporter of the America First agenda. He was a fierce advocate for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act\, which reduced taxes for nearly all Americans. He served on the Whip Team to gather the votes for the United States–Mexico–Canada trade Agreement in 2019\, which opened up more North Carolina agricultural products to be sold in Canada and Mexico.\n \nSenator Budd has been an avid and consistent supporter of law enforcement and the rule of law\, having repeatedly voted to increase funding for local police departments across North Carolina. He was also an early supporter of building a wall on the southern border to stop the flow of drugs\, human trafficking\, and criminals into our country.\n \nSenator Budd has always stood for American strength on the world stage. Whether it comes to challenging China\, standing up to Russian aggression\, or being tough on Islamic terrorists\, Senator Budd has always supported the U.S. Armed Forces\, our veterans\, and their families.\n \nCloser to home\, Senator Budd has been a strong believer in the sanctity of human life\, the value of family\, and religious freedom. He believes that parents should be in the driver’s seat when it comes to where their children go to school and what they are being taught.\n \nIn 2021\, Senator Budd launched his campaign for the U.S. Senate to fight for all of North Carolina and to make life better for working families across the state. He was elected on November 8\, 2022.\n \nSenator Budd serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee; the Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee; the Senate Health\, Education\, Labor and Pensions Committee; and the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee.\n  \nREGISTER TO ATTEND
