Casey Olson
Casey Olson is an Engineering Improvement Specialist with NC State University’s Industry Extension Services (IES). She partners with manufacturers and government agencies across North Carolina to strengthen operations, develop leaders, and build cultures of continuous improvement. With a background in process engineering, Casey has experience in metal stamping, SMC, welding, painting, assembly, and warehouse operations. She specializes in Training Within Industry (TWI), particularly Job Instruction and Job Relations, helping organizations create structured training systems and effectively navigate workplace challenges. She also supports the use of digital twins to document layouts and guide data-driven planning for process improvements and growth. Casey regularly teaches Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, rapid improvement events, and root cause analysis, and leads training that supports emerging leaders and cultural transformation. She holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from NC State University, along with advanced training in ergonomics, Lean facilitation, DDI, and TWI.
