You’re Invited “FORUM ON GRID EDGE SECURITY”
UNC at Charlotte, NC – Main Campus
September 9, 2024

The Center for Energy Security And Reliability (CESAR)

CESAR, led by UNC Charlotte (in collaboration with NC State University and NC A&T State University), is aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity and resilience of the power grid as it transitions to a carbon-neutral system by 2050. The project addresses the increasing reliance on distributed energy generation/resources (DERs) such as solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries, which are expected to account for nearly 50% of all energy generation by 2050. These resources and the associated sensors necessary to manage such a system, connected to the grid via the internet, introduce and expose new vulnerabilities, creating an unprecedented cyberattack surface with significant national security implications.
