Rural Works! Internships

How to hire an engineering student for $15/hour

Address your workforce labor shortage with talented and dedicated engineering students this summer. Accomplish projects you haven’t had time or labor to complete. The deadline to hire interns is approaching- join us to learn how to participate in the Rural Works! Internship Program.

NC State University Industry Extension Services Regional Managers can help you find a talented engineering student intern this summer for $15 an hour in rural counties of North Carolina. NC State University College of Engineering will supplement the intern pay with an additional $10 per hour, plus a participation stipend. This financial support will make the internship opportunity at your facility competitive with urban areas in the state to attract the top candidates. You will receive ongoing support from your Regional Manager and Rural Works! staff in creating and sustaining the position.

Anna Mangum, NC State University Industry Extension Services Regional Manager, will share all the details of the Rural Works! Internship Program from her years of experience with previous intern successes. Anna will provide what you can expect and what you must do to participate.

Rural Works! was created by a partnership between the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, the Office of Outreach and Engagement, and NC State Extension.
