It’s National Manufacturing Day at ECU’s College of Business!
As part of the celebration, graduate students from the College of Business visited Scout Scientific to learn about the manufacturing processes used for natural product isolation. Scout Scientific Founder, Shawn Wyatt, explained how the company uses advanced manufacturing to create commercial value in a laboratory setting. Wyatt hosted five groups of students over several hours for a tour of the facilities and a discussion of the company’s manufacturing processes. Students saw firsthand how Scout Scientific relies on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and other processes to identify, separate, and quantify sample components of natural products. The isolated compounds will be sold to labs around the world for quality testing of consumer products and to research centers investigating cures and treatments.
