The UNC Charlotte Industrial Solutions Lab, a North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP) Partner, held their Fall 2023 Expo on December 8, 2023 at Halton Arena on the UNC Charlotte campus.
The Expo is a public event that showcases the projects that our senior engineering students are working on as part of their capstone degree requirements.
More than 500 senior engineering students participated in the expo. There were 94 projects exhibited. 56 were first semester projects, 26 were second semester and 12 civil engineering projects. 67 of the projects were sponsored by an industry partner.
Our industry partner projects focus on a design challenge the company has in their business. Multi-disciplinary student teams (typically 5 students) work on the design challenge for 2 semesters and provide their work product to the partner company at the end of the second semester. 6 of the companies at the expo had projects that are partially subsidized via the NCMEP partner funding that the Industrial Solutions Lab (ISL) receives.
The NCMEP program allows smaller, NC based manufacturing companies to participate in the UNC Charlotte Engineering Senior Design Program, at a reduced cost.
